EnergyUnited Foundation Donates More Than $170,000 in Second Quarter to Support Community Assistance Efforts

The EnergyUnited Foundation donated $172,270.76 to individuals, families, households and nonprofit organizations in the second quarter of 2024. Donations to 100 applications were approved for individuals, families and nonprofit applications.  

“The EnergyUnited Foundation is committed to supporting and uplifting our communities,” said LaQuisha Parks, vice president of energy services and corporate communications for EnergyUnited. “This community assistance will ensure that families and individuals will receive critical support for shelter, utilities, emergencies and other humane needs.”

Part of the EnergyUnited Foundation’s community giving includes support for nonprofit organizations throughout EnergyUnited’s 19-county service area. In the second quarter, the Foundation awarded $45,000 to nonprofit organizations.  

The EnergyUnited Foundation is a voluntary, member-funded non-profit organization supported by EnergyUnited’s Operation Round-Up program. More than 80,000 EnergyUnited members choose to participate in the program by ‘rounding up’ their electric bills each month. The maximum monthly contribution for an individual member with one account is 99 cents. Each of these small contributions are pooled together in a single fund managed by the EnergyUnited Foundation to support needy individuals, families, and essential nonprofit organizations that complete an application explaining the reason and purpose for their requested grant.
