Great Things Are Happening at UNC Charlotte!
From Patrick Lucitt, UNC Charlotte, [email protected]
Chancellor Gaber released her annual report last week highlighting UNC Charlotte’s unstoppable momentum. The 2023-24 Annual Report emphasizes four key areas of success for the University: record-breaking student successes, nationally-ranked academic achievement, our growing research profile, and record-breaking fundraising success.
This fall UNC Charlotte is on track to set another record in undergraduate enrollment. Our student success continued as we awarded a record number of degrees and graduate certificates, at just over 8,700 last May. With more than 70% of our students staying in North Carolina after graduation, we are fueling the talent pipeline for your employers and prospects.
We are proud of the high impact research being conducted by our students, faculty, staff and industry partners that continues to transform our region and our state. In February, the new Carnegie classifications will be released and UNC Charlotte will reach R-1, top tier status. Only 148 universities can claim this distinction.
Important to the economic development ecosystem, this new R1 status will open the door to new partnerships and fuel innovations and discoveries for the broader Charlotte Region. It is clear from the data, as tracked by the NC Department of Commerce, there is a higher quality of life in regions with an R1 university.
Charlotte’s unstoppable momentum is pulling us forward and we’re excited for the year ahead. These are just a few highlights from the 2023-24 year. Please watch our year-in-review video and check out the annual report website to see more great things happening at Charlotte.
