Iredell County Deputy County Manager Susan Robertson Retires After 40 Years Of Dedicated Service
After an exceptional career spanning four decades, Deputy County Manager Susan Robertson has officially retired. Her commitment to public service and leadership has made a lasting impact on Iredell County and its residents.
A native of Statesville, she joined the County in 1985 as an internal auditor. She was promoted to assistant finance officer in 1987, finance director in 1990 and assistant county manager in 2017 — a role she held until being named deputy county manager in 2020. She has served on the North Carolina Department of Revenue Tax Advisory Committee and is a past president of the North Carolina County Finance Officers Association.
Robertson has served Iredell County with distinction for 40 years, playing a critical role in the County’s growth and development. Throughout her tenure, she has been instrumental in overseeing complex operations, guiding strategic initiatives, and fostering strong partnerships across departments and with the community.
During a retirement celebration held on Friday, June 27, Robertson was honored with one of North Carolina’s highest civilian awards — the Order of the Long Leaf Pine — presented by State Representative Todd Carver in recognition of her exemplary service and lasting contributions to the state and its people.
County Manager Beth Milton expressed her deep gratitude, stating, “Susan’s extraordinary service and steadfast dedication have been invaluable to our County. Her leadership and vision have guided us through times of significant change and growth. We wish her all the best in this well-deserved retirement.”
Robertson’s last day with Iredell County government is today, June 30.
