Mitchell Community College Discusses Customized Training at Iredell EDC’s Industry Leaders Council

Iredell Economic Development Corporation welcomed more than 40 industry and business leaders to the state-of-the-art manufacturing facility of DENSO for their third Industry Leaders Council of 2026 and the first of their new fiscal year on September 23. Sponsored by Mitchell Community College, these leaders came to learn more about the customized training Mitchell offers to help meet the evolving industry needs as well as DENSO’s considerable success with the program.

Through its NCEdge Customized Training Program, Mitchell is dedicated to strengthening the workforce of Iredell County by providing high-quality, customized training solutions for local industries, from small businesses to large manufacturers. Through a partnership with the State of North Carolina and the North Carolina Community College System, NCEdge helps employers attract, train, and retain skilled talent while enhancing productivity and competitiveness. Guided by a core value of flexibility, the program adapts training to the specific goals and challenges of each company, ensuring employees gain the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in today’s dynamic workplace. As North Carolina’s trusted workforce training partner, Mitchell Community College and NCEdge deliver innovative, industry-focused training that helps businesses thrive and communities grow.

Emily Hansley, Regional Director of NCEdge, shared how she can effectively craft training programs specifically to the needs of a business regardless of the size. Martin Ridgell, Skills Training Manager for DENSO Manufacturing, explained how he uses NCEdge’s customized training programs, programs to which he directly attributes DENSO’s considerable growth and success.

After the presentation, these leaders were invited to see the recipients of these programs on the job during a tour of DENSO’s facility.

Industry Leaders Council is a key component of Iredell EDC’s Existing Industry Program. A quarterly, invitation-only program, the Industry Leaders Council provides a platform for business leaders to discuss topics and trends impacting their businesses and an opportunity to share best practices. Meetings rotate at various industries across Iredell County and include tours of local industry. The Council has a distribution of 180+ representatives and targets existing industry and economic development service providers.
