Mooresville PD Chief Elected Vice Chair of International Police Chiefs Committee
Mooresville Police Department Chief of Police Ron Campurciani was recently elected as the Executive Committee Vice Chair of the International Association of Chiefs of Police’s (IACP) Midsize Agencies Division during the 2023 IACP conference in San Diego, California. His term will run two years and conclude at the 2025 IACP conference.
“I am honored to be elected to serve as the Vice Chair of the Midsized Agencies Division by my peers across the country who make up the Midsize Agencies Division,” said Chief Campurciani. The Midsize Agency Division is made up of all police agencies nationally who have between 50-999 sworn officers. “More importantly,” Chief Campurciani noted, “Mooresville will have a voice on issues affecting law enforcement nationally and internationally, from policy to retention, training, technology usage, and more. Mooresville residents and visitors will be the recipients of innovative policing resources and practices from around the globe, and I will be able to bring those best practices to Mooresville as we move forward and grow together as a community.”
Chief Campurciani has spent over 38 years in law enforcement across the country. He joined Mooresville Police Department in 2019, previously serving as the Chief of Police in West Springfield, Massachusetts, and the Executive Director of the Western Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association.
During his career, Chief Campurciani has held many roles, serving as a DEA Task Force agent, an SRT Commander, Officer in Charge of a Narcotics Unit, the Commandant of a Regional Police Academy, and the Head of Internal Affairs, among other specialties. He is a graduate of the 195th Session of the FBI National Academy, where has named the honor graduate and class spokesperson. Along with his roles in law enforcement, Chief Campurciani has also served as adjunct professor at many colleges and universities in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
