Roush Yates Manufacturing Solutions Opens Their Doors For The Industry Leaders Council
Roush Yates Manufacturing Solutions is deeply rooted in NASCAR and the art of engine-building. For decades two of the principles, Robert Yates and Jack Roush challenged one another both on the track and off before joining forces in 2003 and creating Roush Yates Engines. Over the next 20 plus years, the Roush Yates team channeled their passion for power and performance into Roush Yates Manufacturing Solutions where their penchant for CNC machining has propelled them into machining components for motorsports, aerospace, defense, space, and medical as well as other high-tech industries. Now, as a recognized leader in providing high-precision manufacturing solutions from their state-of-the-art facilities in Mooresville, Roush Yates Manufacturing Solutions was the perfect site for Iredell EDC’s third Industry Leaders Council meeting of 2024 where almost 40 industry leaders representing 20 different companies converged for a tour and a presentation of key takeaways from the recent Manufacturing Labor Survey from the Charlotte Regional Business Alliance.
With a labor force of more than 200 people Roush Yates utilizes a number of strategies to ensure they maintain skilled staff, but like many of the other leaders in attendance, the survey results held few surprises including that 63% of respondents said their greatest challenge was finding qualified candidates followed closely by the lack of both hard and soft skills. To address the skills shortfalls, more than half the respondents said they have created or expanded internal training programs while approximately 35% are collaborating with educational institutions. While the turnover rate averages only 15%, most of the respondents are dealing with a workforce that is rapidly approaching retirement with 54% expected to retire in the next 10 years.
