Corvid Technologies Buys 66 Acres Next to Its Mooresville HQ on Lake Norman

From Collin Huguley, Charlotte Business Journal

Corvid Technologies recently made a significant land purchase around its headquarters near Lake Norman, though plans for the site are unclear.

Earlier this month, the Mooresville-based company acquired just over 66 acres off Transco Road and Langtree Campus Drive for $9.25 million, according to Iredell County real estate records. Corvid opened its headquarters campus on a neighboring parcel on the lake in 2019 with plans to employ hundreds.

Corvid declined to provide more information on its plans for the land when reached by the Charlotte Business Journal.

The land was purchased from Langtree Development Co. LLC, real estate records show. Corvid initially announced plans to move its headquarters to the Langtree area in early 2018. At the time, the company pledged a nearly $29 million investment at the headquarters, which was intended to include 367 employees. Corvid broke ground on its 11-acre campus later that year.

The Corvid campus was expected to be a catalyst for a potentially $1 billion corporate headquarters business park in the area to the east of Interstate 77. It is unclear what the future holds for the vacant land in the area. Corvid and Langtree Development Co. both now have significant land holdings along the waterfront off Transco Road, real estate records show.

Corvid was founded in 2004 by David Robinson. It provides technology-based solutions “including concept development, design and optimization, prototype build, test and manufacture,” according to its website.
