Iredell County Zip Code In The Top Ten Of The Charlotte Metro’s Hottest Housing Markets In Q3

There’s a new hottest housing market in the Charlotte metro area for the third quarter: the 28124 ZIP code in Mount Pleasant. The Cabarrus County ZIP unseated Charlotte’s 28207, which held onto the top spot throughout the first half of 2026.

That’s according to The Business Journals‘ latest quarterly analysis of the country’s hottest housing markets based on listing and sales data from Intercontinental Exchange Inc.

The ranking is intended to emphasize sales and pricing momentum in each ZIP code, using a weighted formula that includes quarterly and year-over-year data. Only ZIP codes with complete data, an average sales price of at least $429,000 and at least 10 sales during the quarter were considered for the ranking.

The 28124 ZIP code is in northeast Cabarrus County and abuts Stanly County. It previously landed among the Charlotte area’s hottest housing markets in the second quarter of 2026, albeit at a lower rank. It’s the only local ZIP code to appear within the top 100 in the national ranking, coming in at No. 72.

In the third quarter:

The average list price in 28124 was lower in Q3 than during the second quarter, when it totaled $632,976, but the average sales price increased from $452,872. On a year-over-year basis, both figures rose. In the third quarter of 2025, the average list price was $409,266 and the average sales price was $376,867.

While the ranking isn’t meant to highlight the most expensive or the most popular markets, some of those are on the list. Instead, it spotlights ZIP codes where activity is surging, prices are dramatically rising or homes are selling at a faster pace.

Of the Charlotte region’s 10 hottest housing markets in the third quarter, six are outside city limits. Here’s a closer look at those nine other ZIP codes:

28103 — Marshville (Union County)

28036 — Davidson (Mecklenburg County)

28166 — Troutman (Iredell County)

28270 — Charlotte (includes Lansdowne, Sardis, Hembstead and Providence Plantation)

28205 — Charlotte (includes Plaza Midwood)

28209 — Charlotte (includes Sedgefield and Montford Park)

28120 — Mount Holly (Gaston County)

28278 — Charlotte (southwest area, including Dixie-Berryhill and The Palisades)

28134 — Pineville (Mecklenburg County)
