Iredell Economic Development Corporation’s Industry Leaders Council Takes an Inside Look at The New Christian Mission

On February 24, Iredell EDC’s Industry Leaders Council was welcomed into the doors of the NEW Christian Mission and invited to take a front row seat to see firsthand how three of Iredell County’s most valued community resources work collaboratively for the betterment of our citizens and communities and witness the incredible impact it makes on our workforce pipeline.

The Christian Mission, the Iredell County Partnership for Young Children (ICPYC), and NCWorks Career Center have formed a Unified Family Support Hub in Mooresville, streamlining access to essential services for Iredell County residents. Celebrating with a ribbon cutting in August 2025, this new co-location brings together The Christian Mission’s holistic poverty‑relief services—such as emergency rent and utility assistance, a client‑choice food pantry, case management, life‑skills education, and a new computer lab and substance misuse support—with ICPYC’s early childhood development, family support, literacy programs, and childcare resource and referral services under one beautiful roof. The addition of NCWorks adds personalized career counseling, job placement support, résumé and interview training, and specialized services for veterans and youth. The collaboration is designed to simplify and enhance support, providing crisis assistance, workforce development, and early learning resources all under one roof to strengthen family stability from birth through employment.

After breakfast and a behind the scenes tour of the new facility, more than 40 business, industry, and community leaders were presented with the startling facts and statistics from The Christian Mission and ICPYC regarding the issues our citizens face along the considerable steps these partner organizations are taking to help citizens overcome their barriers to entering the workforce while NCWorks shared how employers can engage to fill their open positions with qualified candidates who are ready to work.

Industry Leaders Councils are a key component of Iredell EDC’s Existing Industry Program. A quarterly, invitation-only program, the Industry Leaders Council provides a platform for business leaders to discuss topics and trends impacting their businesses and an opportunity to share best practices. Meetings rotate at various industries across Iredell County and include tours of local industry. The Council has a distribution of 180+ representatives and targets existing industry and economic development service providers. For the first time, Iredell EDC is opening Industry Leaders Council meetings for sponsorship opportunities.
