Iredell EDC Hosts first Industry Leaders Council of 2024 at Team Penske

Manufacturing continues as one of the Iredell County’s top industries accounting for 11,882 jobs according to the North Carolina Department of Commerce.  With so much at stake, it is no surprise supply chain issues would remain top of mind for industry leaders.  On February 28, more than 40 of Iredell County’s industry leaders convened for Iredell EDC’s Industry Leaders Council on the campus of Penske Racing for a presentation by the North Carolina State University Industry Expansion Solutions on their solution for these issues, the Supplier Matching Program.

Presented by KeAnne Hoeg, Director of Data Management Systems, Supplier Scouting and Reporting, and Eric Taylor, Supply Chain Optimization Specialist, both of Industry Expansion Solutions, opened with just of few of the impediments to a successful supply chain with COVID, of course, being at the top of the list followed by the political unrest and natural disasters that continually plague the availability of materials and goods.  Additionally, many manufacturers are striving to reestablish their suppliers locally or in the United States; therefore, eliminating the need for expensive shipping and the resulting time delays.  Industry Expansion Solutions assists by first identifying suppliers of goods and materials and then creating an organized database of these suppliers. As manufacturers reach out, they closely consult with the business to fully understand their specific needs, formulate solutions to their challenges, and formally connect them with the suppliers that can best meet their needs.  All of this is provided at no cost to the business.

Following the presentation, representatives from Team Penske shared highlights from the latest championship wins from Cup Series drivers Ryan Blaney, driver of the No. 12 Ford Mustang, and Joey Logano, driver of the No. 22 Ford Mustang as well as a recap of the Team Penske trio of Will Power, Josef Newgarden and Scott McLaughlin claiming three of the top four positions in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES championship standings.  They then proudly hosted tours of the facilities with in-depth looks at what truly makes the drivers from Team Penske the champions they are.

As a different sort of champion, Iredell EDC makes it their mission to assist the existing businesses and industries in Iredell County achieve their goals of growth and success, and Industry Leaders Council meetings are just one of the tools utilized to accomplish that task.  If you are an industry leader and would like to take advantage of this unique and informative program, contact Todd Black, Existing Industry Manager,  Todd@iredelledc.com
