Pappas Properties Wins Final Approval For Big Lake Norman Project After Close Vote

Pappas Properties has secured a key final approval for its plans for a wellness-focused mixed-use development in Mooresville.

On Jan. 21, the Mooresville Board of Commissioners narrowly approved an annexation and utility extension request for a portion of the Mooresville Village site. Commissioners were deadlocked, 3-3, on a vote to approve the annexation request for 43.8 acres at 1814 Mecklenburg Highway. Mayor Chris Carney broke the tie in favor of approving the request.

Mooresville Village calls for up to 625 residential units and 279,000 square feet of commercial space across several phases.

The decision followed a similar close vote made by commissioners last month on the rezoning request for Mooresville Village. Carney also broke that tie to allow a rezoning of the full, 98-acre project site.
