Women In The Workplace 2024

From HTI

The 10th anniversary Women in the Workplace report by McKinsey & Company, the largest study on women in corporate America, reviews a decade of data on women’s progress, decline, and stagnation in the workplace.

“This progress matters: research shows companies with more women in leadership see greater innovation, healthier cultures, and stronger performance.”

Over the past 10 years, the report has covered more than 1,000 companies and surveyed over 480,000 people on workplace experiences. Key findings include:

  • Women now hold 29% of C-suite roles, up from 17% in 2015, but progress is slower at entry and manager levels
  • Women of color are vastly underrepresented, holding only 7% of C-suite roles
  • Only 27% of companies have all 5 of these core practices for de-biasing hiring and performance reviews: 1) Develop clear evaluation criteria before candidates are considered, 2) Offer bias training for evaluators, 3) Use diverse slates of similarly qualified candidates for positions, 4) Clear evaluation criteria, & 5) Reminders to avoid bias
