Downtown Mooresville Hosts Their Annual Meeting And Banquet

Downtown Mooresville recently hosted representatives from downtown businesses, elected officials, and the community for their Annual Meeting and Banquet at Epic Chophouse in Downtown Mooresville.

The highlight of the evening was a presentation from was the presentation from Kim Atkins, Executive Director of the Mooresville Downtown Commission, outlining the significant benefits Downtown Mooresville brings to the Town of Mooresville. For example, in the past 16 years private investment has far outpaced the public investment resulting in a 204% return for the Town of Mooresville.

Other key benefits include:

• Downtown Mooresville’s municipal Service District generates more than $320,00 annually in property taxes compared to a comparably sized property that is home to a big box store that generates approximately $77,000 annually.
• Data from the NC Main Street strongly suggests the positive value per acre of a Downtown is far greater than outward development.
• Downtown Mooresville’s promotional and marketing efforts, all organic and non-paid content, have resulted in 403,000 website actions, more than 1.6 million Facebook views, and a click-through-rate of 8,700 click, effectively demonstrating Downtown Mooresville’s ability to reach residents, community members, and visitors at a level far exceeding what is typical for nonprofits of a similar size and resources.
