This high-profile site on Lake Norman will soon be home to a waterfront, family-friendly restaurant and upscale lounge.
Vitale Lakeside will occupy the approximately 9,000-square-foot ground floor of the former Queens Landing site, with an expansive patio for outdoor dining. The second story is being transformed into Bonnie & Clyde, a high-end cocktail lounge.
Queens Landing, once a destination for boat tours, dining and weddings, has been closed since summer 2023. It is located at 1459 River Highway in Mooresville.
A May opening for Vitale is being targeted.
“You’ve seen this view… when you came in that corner and it was just like, ‘Wow.’ And then we made it happen,” says Gennaro Vitale.
He and wife Susan are behind Charlotte-based Vitale Hospitality Group. He anticipates investing more than $3 million into the project.
Expect Vitale Lakeside to dish up family favorites with burgers, steaks, pizza, Italian-inspired fare and seafood on the menu, says Gennaro Vitale. There’s a focus on homemade with burgers using a proprietary blend of meats and spices. Sauces, such as marinara, are also made in house.
Vitale Lakeside will have the only floating bar allowed on Lake Norman, he says. A state-of-the-art, octagonal dock will serve food and drink via the 38 boat slips on site — replacing an outdated option. Plans call for roll-up garage doors, a bar and a rooftop stage for entertainment on the dock.
“Pull up on the boat. Eat, drink, have fun,” Vitale says. “You don’t have a bigger patio on the lake than what we have here.”
Bonnie & Clyde boasts floor-to-ceiling views of Lake Norman from its roughly 6,000-square-foot space on the main building’s upper level.
“There’s really not a bad seat in here,” he says.
The design will incorporate plush finishes such as velvet drapes along with high-end wallpaper and granite. There will be a roughly 1,500-square-foot VIP lounge area, a private room and a dedicated DJ booth.
“I think this area really needed a place for adults to come out and have a good time.”
