Iredell Health System Recognized By NCHA For Collaborative Improving Health And Well-Being Of Families

Iredell Health Foundation’s Whole3 Collaborative has been awarded the North Carolina Healthcare Association’s Healthier Communities Award. This award recognizes collaborative work by an NCHA member institution to promote health and well-being by addressing identified needs. Iredell Health received the award July 15 at NCHA’s Summer Membership Meeting in Asheville.

Started in 2025, Whole3 – which stands for Whole Child, Whole Family, Whole Community Collaborative – takes a coordinated approach to helping Iredell County families experiencing compounding challenges, including housing instability, food insecurity, trauma, transportation barriers, behavioral health needs and access to care. Each family works with a Community Family Navigator who helps coordinate support.

“Whole3 is, at its heart, about making a difference in the community where it’s needed most. It connects and strengthens the organizations already serving our community, enabling them to provide more coordinated, well-rounded support to those in need when and where it matters most. This collaborative perfectly aligns with Iredell Health’s vision to guide our neighbors to optimal health, wherever they are on their journey,” said John Green, President and CEO of Iredell Health System. “We are honored to receive this recognition and grateful for the community partners who work alongside us every day to make a lasting difference.”

The Community Family Navigator works alongside children and their caregivers to connect families with essential services and resources. Through strategic partnerships with the NC Pre-K Program and local elementary schools, the Family Navigator helps families access transportation, housing assistance, food, clothing and behavioral health services before challenges become crises.

Whole3 highlights the critical role of rapid-response, wraparound support services needed to stabilize families facing compounding barriers like housing instability, transportation challenges, and mental health concerns. In one year, Whole3 has 14 collaborating agencies and has served 24 families.

The collaborative is built on the belief that lasting health and well-being depend not only on medical care, but also on stable housing, strong family support, educational opportunities and access to community resources. By aligning organizations around a shared vision, Whole3 is creating a more connected system of support for Iredell County families.
