A developer active with downtown projects in Charlotte’s surrounding region has secured approval for another. It plans to begin on its latest downtown development next year.
The Mooresville Board of Commissioners on July 5 approved a land sale and downtown development project agreement with Lansing Melbourne Group. LMG, which has embarked on notable downtown projects in Kannapolis and Concord, has plans to develop hundreds of apartments and retail space at the Mooresville site. The downtown location is between Moore and Center avenues and Church Street.
Documents show that the project calls for 150 apartments and 3,000 square feet of retail space, but town leaders said this week that the scope would likely be larger. The project is expected to include between 150 and 225 apartments and 9,000 square feet of retail space, according to a presentation at the July 5 meeting. A 400-space parking deck is also going to be built there.
