Iredell EDC Celebrates 2026 Economic Development Week

Taking place from May 4–8, the week recognizes and honors the dedicated work of economic developers and their contributions to communities around the world.

Iredell Economic Development Corporation is proud to join organizations like the North Carolina Economic Development Association in celebrating the 2026 Economic Development Week, a global initiative led by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC).

This year’s theme, 100 Years of Impact, recognizes IEDC’s centennial anniversary and 100 years of leadership in economic development. Economic Development Week presents an opportunity to examine the evolution of economic development, celebrate our successes today, and lay the groundwork for the next era of prosperity for our community.

“As we reflect on a century of economic development, the role of economic developers has never been more important,” said IEDC President and CEO Nathan Ohle. “Economic Development Week is an opportunity to celebrate transformational economic development in communities around the world. At the heart of Economic Development Week are success stories of how the field works together to support, cultivate, and drive economic prosperity for people and places everywhere.”

“Economic Development Week is a time to reflect on our collective achievements and to plan for a future of sustainable growth,” said Jenn Bosser, President and CEO. “Since the inception of Iredell Economic Development Corporation in 2018, we have been honored to be a part of many major announcements, including Doosan Bobcat, $70 million investment creating 250 jobs; Denso’s $38 million investment that created 137 jobs; Sherwin Williams investment of $324 million with 183 jobs; Dehn $38.6 million in investment and 195 jobs; and most recently, Compass Data Centers’ investment of $1 billion that will create 250 jobs.”

Bosser continues, “Perhaps our greatest achievement is Iredell Ready, which is Iredell County’s collaborative workforce consortium committed to Building Pathways to Better Futures aligned with local industry needs. Because of this collaboration between our two school systems, Iredell-Statesville Schools and Mooresville Graded School District, Mitchell Community College, and business and industry, Iredell County has been recognized by myFutureNC as one of only nine “Attainment Ready” counties in North Carolina. Collaborations like Iredell Ready ensure Iredell County stands out to businesses wanting to grow here or locate here. We would love to have our businesses, community leaders, and the public join us in celebrating our progress and to engage in meaningful discussions about the economic future of Iredell County.”
